Fascinating. In 2010 another Indian rekindled the East India Company after purchasing it. Now it can be found selling luxury foods in the UK.
Thank you Matthew Wilkinson for your interesting post and the historical history of Erindale. I grew up in Erindale Woodlands in the 1970/80's, and have many great memories of that time🥰 My public school was the Springfield Public School on Credit Woodlands Drive in the subdivision of Erindale Woodlands. Miigwech for these beautiful reminders and teachings of mkwa ndodem 🐻
It's questionable if Malton and Cooksville have really survived as as historic communities. It's more the place names that did. Cooksville was probably not much more than a hamlet to begin with, and Malton's village was destroyed in a gas explosion.
Chii Miigwech I name Makwa in my thank giving each day <3
I knew I'd learn something 01:54

Congratulations Patti and to all the inductees! 🎉
3:48 Oh, GOD, remember THAT monstrosity on Southdown Road at the QEW? What an awful experiment that was. Umpteen lanes all crisscrossing each other. There were accidents there practically every day! Thank heavens they finally regularized that interchange a while ago.
Somebody put a coffee cup on the master plan And they built the brown ring!
When I was a teenager in Mississauga in the 80s, you could still see cows in the fields adjacent to City Hall.
When i was a kid City hall was on the otherside of Square one Off of Hwy 10 And the only thing i remember seeing for a building getting there was a church And a few barns

Congratulations 🎉 what a wonderful video. Thank you for sharing I could not come in person ❤
My family had a cottage at the top end of River Rd Huttonville from the 30's through the 60's, my summer sanctuary from Toronto 50s & 60s. We rolled in the farmers hay & played in the woods. I remember getting covered in suckers when we snuck down the hill to the river. All the generations swam under the old arched bridge they jumped off. There was a beautiful big willow tree at the bottom of River Rd on our way through the old mill to the general store to buy candy . Can't see it now on google street view. My best memories.❤
if anyone doesn't understand why we wear a poppy and why we should never forget, they need to watch this. excellent!
Can’t wait to read it!
That was great, very interesting! I didn’t get to the 100th anniversary party so this answered a lot of questions I had . Thank you Richard and Matthew!
I'm going to correct you... yes Muskets could kill at 200 to 300 yards but you also have to take into account the amount of powder, the size projectile, and quality of powder. Normally between 100 to 150 yards the killing ability of the weapon decreases and dramatically deceases past 150 yards. It was not unheard of that musket balls not being able to penetrate the clothing of the day because authentic MILITARY COATS & JACKETS were very thick, heavy, & padded especially around the torso. There is account of soldiers being hit with musket balls at far distances or low velocity rounds due to under-powered charges of gunpowder or the quality of powder being poor that would causing the projectiles to bounce off or becoming LOUNGED in the WOOL COATS or JACKETS. This increased during the colder months because of soldiers wearing more layers of clothing & the addition of the GREAT COAT or OVERCOAT. Remember KEVLAR is a synthetic material that's weaved in layers similar to these MILITARY JACKETS & COATS. Low velocity projectiles could struggle passing though this material especially with multiple layers worn. 8:57
Hello Heritage Mississauga, I am working on a project called "Arrow206-Project206". The vision is to build a 1:1 Full-Scale, Non-Military, Airshow Demonstrator and static Display Avro Arrow aircraft. We have begun a Fundraising Campaign and I have also begun looking for Blueprints. Because we will be working with original blueprints, we then become an actual Avro Arrow Program. Something I am also working on. I have not seen this meeting in its entirety just yet, but so far, it is very interesting. People seem to look at the Avro Arrow and its ending with angry eyes. But there are somethings that are interesting, today.
This is amazing - long time Malton Resident
I know right! Malton has a lot of History, unfortunately hardly talked-about.
That poor kid. His firewood load just got a lot heavier.
My mother worked there during the war. She was 21 when the war ended. I don't know if she lived in that dormitory, as she lived just down the road in what was then called New Toronto and could have commuted on the streetcar. I don't ever recall her mentioning it, though she talked about how she operated a lathe.
I grew up in Oakville, south of the Ford plant, back in the 60s. When I was in high school, I spent my summer vacations working in my uncle's printing shop in Streetsville. I'd ride my bicycle up every day. One thing I remember was riding up Winston Churchill, with my hands off the handle bar, as there was no other traffic on the road! Back then, at the intersection of Winston Churchill and Dundas (then known as Hwy 5) was a Supertest gas station on the south east corner and a store on the north west, with the Trafalgar Arms motel behind the store. I'd often stop in that store on the way home, to buy a bottle of pop. I don't even recall a traffic light at that intersection back then. Also, my entire trip, from North Service Rd. & Ford Dr., up Winston Churchill, across Eglinton and up Mississauga Rd. to Streetsville was through farm land. Back then, there were also weigh scales for trucks on Dundas at Mavis.
That's right. The weigh station house was boarded up around 1982, and a couple of buddies and myself busted in and looted it in the summer of 1989. It was pulled down entirely around 1991.
I met ronnie around 1980 at the WayJay club in Norval. I was fishing in the credit river beside the club when I cought a trout. He had the cook prepare it for lunch.
Enjoyed the video!
Nice river, nice piece…. They are planning on dumping treated sewage in Erin at the headwater springs of this beautiful stream, not smart, save the Credit, Stop the Plant!
Would you happen to know the history behind 4265 Perivale Rd?
Give move time to read.
Sounds like Cajon Pass Runaways
“An.”
Where is the copeland house located today?
Thank you! I'd love to know more about the Mississaugas of the Credit
What was the address of the home, anyone know?? Just subbed!!
Probably near Erin Park.
